One in four women and one in ten men will be sexually assaulted in her or his lifetime.Sexual assault is any form of nonconsensual sexual contact such as kissing, fondling, vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, and oral sex.Sexual assault is a crime of violence. If you have been sexually assaulted, it is important to realize that it is not your fault and there are resources available to help you.You did not invite or want the assault and the assailant was not overcome by an uncontrollable urge.If you have been sexually assaulted, and you are afraid to report it, you are not alone. Most sexual assaults are not reported. The survivor is often worried about what people will think, especially where the assailant is a family member or friend. Most people are sexually assaulted by someone they know. This site aims to provide information in an effort to help survivors of sexual assault heal and to make the difficult decision of whether or not to report and what to expect if you do report.The site is informative for both men and women who are survivors or friends of survivors of sexual assault.
