Human Writes has a team of office holders managing the organisation and helping both writers and prisoners. Within this team we have State Coordinators for each US state that has the death penalty.Some of our Coordinators have counselling experience, they are a friendly team and are expert about the rules affecting their state’s Death Row and keeping updated with events there. Throughout your membership your Coordinator will be your main point of contact within Human Writes and heshe will be able to give help, advice and support to both you and your penfriend. We also have trained counsellors available to help you through any tough times you may encounter, such as losing a penfriend to execution.We publish a newsletter every four months which will keep you up to date with HW news and what is happening in the various US states. It also contains other interesting things such as prisoners artwork and writing. You will receive two copies of the newsletter one for you to keep and one to send to your penfriend.Human Writes holds conferences where we invite major figures in the fight against the death penalty and people who have been released from Death Row to speak. Sometimes too members of their families may speak at these events. Conferences, and our other less formal social events, are an excellent opportunity to meet other writers and to share your experiences.All office holders work on a voluntary basis. Human Writes is selfsupporting and our membership fees simply help to cover our central costs.
