Boulder Colorado is a small town with little or no crime, and has a small police force. John Ramsey was the CEO of a successful business and Patricia Ramsey had been Miss West Virginia in 1979. Both were active and well known in the community. JonBenet was a beautiful child. She was very outgoing, and had great promise and potential for the future. She was talented, and a regular kid, but like all of our children, was very vulnerable and defenseless. These were all important factors, in the precrime phase, during in the weeks and perhaps months before 122696 as the murder was planned. The offender carefully examined the victimology as part of a very specific plan. JonBenet and the Ramseys were specifically selected as the victims because of their high profile in the community. Their wealthy status and being somewhat famous would add to the excitement and attention needed by the offender. If JonBenet, being a very beautiful and captivating child, was the victim of a horrible murder, it would assure a significant amount of public and media attention. Focus of this attention would also be on the Detectives that investigated the case. They would receive celebrity status, and would be relentlessly pursued, and hounded by media from around the country.
