Sixtythree days later, Senator Robert Francis Kennedy was assassinated after winning the California Democratic primary RFK would have been the Democratic Presidential candidate against the Republican Presidential candidate Richard Milhouse Nixon, and RFK would have won the Presidency. On November 4, 1980 President James Earl Carter lost the Presidential election to Ronald Wilson Reagan, thus becoming a lame duck President. Thirtyfour days later, the heartbeat of music for his generation, John Winston Lennon was assassinated.
