This is one of Philadelphias oldest and most baffling unsolved crimes. The mystery of the boy in the box began on Feb 25, 1957. The weather was damp and cold, a call came into the Philadelphia Police department about a body in a box, off Verree and Susquehanna Roads, in the Fox Chase area. When the Police arrived, they were horrified by what they found. A small boy between three and five years of age, was laying dead in a cardboard carton. His little body was wrapped in a cheap cotton blanket, his hair and fingernails had been freshly cut, and he appeared to have been bathed before being discarded. We know he had been severely abused. The boy was only 30 pounds and very malnourished. He had blue eyes and blond hair. They called him The Boy in the Box or The Fox Chase Boy.That was over 50 years ago.Recently the boys remains were exhumed to extract tissue for DNA analysis. Even with this latest effort, investigators are no closer to solving this murder mystery today than they were when it started. The goal of this web site is to help solve this sad mystery, and to finally make known this poor childs real identity. Please take some time to study the boys picture. Perhaps you or maybe someone you know, has knowledge of information that is needed to bring a name and justice to the innocent little Boy in the Box.
