Three Arrested in Crimes Prevention & Resource Directory

 

Police arrested three men Thursday after a jewelry courier was robbed at gunpoint outside a McDonalds restaurant in Factoria.The victim called for help about 9:40 a.m. and described the suspects. A Bellevue patrol officer spotted a vehicle fitting the description a rental minivan as it merged onto Interstate 90 heading east and tailed it, Bellevue police spokesman Greg Grannis said.Police from Bellevue and Issaquah closed in on the vehicle near the Snoqualmie Pass exit, where the suspects stopped and surrendered, he said.The robbery follows two similar stickups in Seattle involving a diamond salesman from San Jose, Calif. The victim reported that on two visits to Seattle one in February and the second time in June a gunman accosted him and stole a total of $450,000 worth of diamonds.In the Feb. 7 robbery, the victim said he was walking from his car to a Holiday Inn Express at 226 Aurora Ave. N. He had a suitcase full of diamonds and cash when a white minivan rolled up alongside him. A man jumped from the vans side door and pointed a gun at the victim, ordering him not to move, according to police reports.All three suspects arrested Thursday were men. Police expect to book them in the King County Jail, although the FBI may take over the investigation, Grannis said.Our position is that we dont have enough information to say its connected to anything else. It certainly will be looked at, but its too soon, Grannis said.
