Last week two men claiming they were engineers told the brothers they had made a discovery on their property that could mean a fortune for all. Readings from sophisticated metal detecting equipment had indicated gold might be secreted on their business land, they told Hernan and Alvaro Ospina.All it would take would be some digging, a little secretkeeping, plus an altar and about $20,000 to remove a curse on the buried cache, according to the men and a supposedly 200yearold document discovered near the NW 13th Street restaurant.But Gainesville Police allege the lure of hidden treasure was just an elaborate and often profitable scam for Jose Luis Barrientos, 34, and Edgar Javier Villamizer, 29.
