In spring of 1999 local law enforcement agencies saw a need for more citizen involvement to help lower crime in Cowlitz County. So they started the procedure to create a Crime Stoppers program within our county. They started by organizing a board of directors that has taken up the cause by creating a tax exempt, nonprofit corporation, fund raising and various committees to get the job done. We need your help in order to continue our work in the community.Crime Stoppers of Cowlitz County is a program, operated by citizens, that involves the public, the media, and area law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime. It offers cash rewards and anonymity to persons who furnish information leading to the arrest of, and filing of changes against, felony crime offenders. Crime Stoppers has been operating internationally since 1976 and has solved over 500,000 felony cases and has been responsible for the recovery of over 3 billion dollars worth of narcotics and stolen property. The Crime Stoppers International headquarters is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
