The South African Police Service SAPS, like all the organisations in South Africa whichtry to fight crime, is understaffed, underequipped, undertrained and underpaid.Nothing of substance is being done to combat crime and with a 7 conviction rate nationally for serious crimes, 93 of serious crimes in the RSA go unpunished.Newspaper reports state that HIV not only affects 4,7 million citizens 10 of the population, and is doubling roughly every three to four years but has also infected some 10 000 SAPS members and 60 of the SA National Defence Force.Knowledge about crime statistics and crime prevention is slowly but surely disappearing from mainstream publications.To counter this, we are trying to put crime prevention back into the mainstream as part of everyday life.We have put together a collection of links we have found useful, informative and educational.As we are doing this at our own expense as we find time, to avoid frustrating people who send emails, we need to advise that we have had to adopt a general policy not to reply personally to emails, though of course we note their contents.We are not interested in negative criticism.If you have some comment or suggestions, please set up a free website showing us how it works and email us the link.Unless it contains material likely to get us bounced from our host, we will then publish the URL so our visitors can also see your ideas.
